Overview

Supports logical grouping of a set of (one or more) software components (e.g. OSGi bundles, Deployment Packages), additional resources and content files and provides the ability to provision and manage their lifecycle (update, start/stop, uninstall) as a whole application, handling issues like dependency and compatibility resolving, sharing of components between applications, etc.

Functions

The major functionality of the Service Application Management package are:

  • Service Publishing - Allows the service providers to publish and manage their services and the administrator to control the full functionality of service applications.

  • Service Discovery - Allows displaying of all available in the RM Software Repository service applications which are published and ready to be deployed on a specific client device.

  • Backup Agent - Provides backup and restore functionality for service applications.

  • Service Delivery and Life-cycle Management - supports installing/activating/deactivating/uninstalling of all components of the service with a single operation

Package and Bundle Dependencies

The requirement for activating the Service Application Management package is to have installed and started the System, the OSGi Device Management, the Software Repository and User Management packages.
