Overview

The Edge Device Management package provides a management solution for devices running Bosch IoT Edge. These management capabilities include containers management, performing software and firmware updates, and backup and restore, to edge devices located in different locations.

The package also enables easy integration with Bosch IoT Rollouts. When used together, they can enrich the portfolio of use cases that Remote Manager can handle. To be more precise, thanks to this integration Rollouts may act as a central software repository to multiple Remote Manager instances.

This package is currently available only for custom solutions and is not part of the standard product offering.

Functionalities

The Edge Device Management package provides the following functionalities:

  • Easy connection and management of gateways running Bosch IoT Edge and their edge devices.

  • Deployment of software, firmware and applications supported by Bosch IoT Edge via its suscript.

  • OCI containers management support.

  • Backup & Restore functionalities.

  • Integration with Bosch IoT Rollouts.


Package Dependencies

The Edge integration package requires the following packages for its proper operation:

  • System Package - comprises the core of the RM system.

  • Generic Device Management – provides the general model, called "Control Unit" model, for managing various types of devices and/or other manageable resources in a common way.

  • Software repository - provides a unified representation of deployment units which can be delivered to different devices and a common way to manage them.
