Bosch IoT Device Management

Connection configuration update for Bosch IoT Edge customers

The default Things connection configurations have been changing over time. Currently, for new subscriptions after 08 October 2020, the values are configured by default in a manner that also fits Bosch IoT Edge customers.

If your subscription was created before 08 October 2020, you will need to check both your connection configuration and provisioned gateway device. The default values for older subscriptions need to be updated to the latest provided for new ones.
For more information on changed connection configurations, see our release notes 2020-09-29 - Changed connection config and further changes.

For new subscriptions these configurations should be set by default.

To ensure your solution will work, the described Things connection configurations below must be checked.

Open the Connections UI

Starting at the Bosch IoT Suite Console, click the Connection entry in the left navigation.

In case it is not there, use the search, and click the star icon to pin it to your navigation bar.

The connections UI opens in a new browser tab, as it is not fully integrated in Bosch IoT Suite Console yet.

Edit the "Devices via Bosch IoT Hub" connection

Implicit thing creation

Check that this option is enabled. This option enables Thing entities creation for each newly created/added device via your gateway.
As the Linux-based Edge Agent requires the device to be provisioned as a gateway, this option is mandatory.

If the option is not enabled, Edit your connection configuration to enable it as shown above.

All devices which will be registered via your edge gateway will also be represented as a thing, with an ID prefixed with the ID of your gateway itself.
To enable proper messages routing all connection targets must be configured properly.

Check that your Header mappings for to → are configured with a value of:

command/<your-tenant-ID>/{{ thing:id }}

In case the to→ header mappings values in both Targets are different, edit your connection configuration to update them.
