Device integration: sending device data to Bosch IoT Hub

After successful provisioning your device is ready to send data to Bosch IoT Hub. Therefore the devices needs to authenticate with the Hub.

The Bosch IoT Hub supports different authentication schemes, starting with username/password based authentication up to certificate based authentication.

For details on the different authentication schemes see Device Authentication in the official documentation of the Bosch IoT Hub.

For scenarios where the devices cannot communicate IP based, the Gateway Mode of the Bosch IoT Hub can be applied. See Cloud Protocol Gateway - operated by a customer.

For scenarios where the devices are connected with a gateway running Bosch IoT Edge they will use the MQTT adapter of Bosch IoT Hub, see https://docs.bosch-iot-suite.com/edge/index.html#109648.htm.

Example:

To authenticate a device with the Bosch IoT Hub MQTT Adapter, a valid user name would be for example authID@tenantID and the password as set in the credentials part, while provisioning the device.

Edge devices which are registered by the gateway (Edge agent) will communicate to Hub via this gateway and don't need own credentials registered at the Bosch IoT Hub.
